Passport to Adventure

Webelos Scout Tristian Green opened his international Passport last Monday to showcase stamps he received for traveling to Singapore, Thailand and Russia.

How could this be?

Green, a member of Cub Scout Pack 345 on Fort Gordon, never left Diamond Lakes Regional Park in Hephzibah.

Green obtained such an impressive collection of stamps while at Creek River District's second-annual Cub Scout Day Camp.

Under the theme "Passport to Adventure," Green's collection featured stamps from countries in all seven continents by the end of the week. As part of Day Camp, the Webelos Scout and 34 others had earned numerous belt loops, completed his shooting sports badge and pin, gone fishing, played international games, created worldly crafts, saw a mobile zoo and learned proper flag etiquette.

Green's fun-filled week is thanks to a talented team of volunteers who grew Creek River District's Day Camp attendance by 25 percent in only its second year. This pinnacle of this team's accomplishment came last Wednesday when it passed accreditation from the Boy Scouts of America's national camp school.

Creek River District would like to offer its sincerest thank you to its Day Camp staff for an excellent week. Most have already expressed interest in returning.
